Changing to CS PhD (from ML, ROBO, or HCC)
Q: What if an IC student wants to change their current PhD Program (ML, ROBO, HCC) to CS?
A:
The advisor must authorize the move.
Changing into the CS PhD program is straight forward.
Complete a Graduate Change of Major Form .
Form info:
Enter current major and then Proposed Major.
They will ADD a PhD Degree.
IC PhD Director is Associate Chair (Thomas Ploetz).
Current is the program they are in now; Proposed is the program they want to move to.
Changing from CS PhD to Another IC Program (ML, ROBO, or HCC)
Q: What if an IC student wants to change from CS PhD Program into another IC PhD program (ML, ROBO, HCC)?
A:
The advisor must authorize the move.
Changing from CS PhD program into a specialized program (ML PhD, HCC PhD, Robo PhD) is NOT straight forward.
The director of that program must be contacted FIRST, and the director must agree.
The student then forwards the authorization email from the proposed program to the Associate Chair of IC.
Once the Associate Chair of IC is informed, the student fills out the change of major form via DocuSign: Change Major/Level Form for Graduate Students .

They will ADD a PhD Degree.
IC PhD Director is Associate Chair.
Current is the program they are in now; Proposed is the program they want to move to.
Route to current program (CS) for Thomas Ploetz signature, then route to proposed major program for final signature.
Transferring Students from Another GT Department or School
The process for a student transferring from another GT department or school into IC:
Student reads and agrees to the IC PhD Milestones .
IC Faculty Advisor identifies a second endorser in IC.
IC Faculty Advisor sends email to Associate Chair including request for transfer, funding information, and confirmation of student's agreement to meet IC milestones .
Associate Chair presents request to Chair for approval.
Once approval is given, student completes a Change of Major form .
