External applications accepted for Fall semester only. Application deadline: December 15.
Students apply through one of the four participating home schools:
School of Computer Science (SCS)
School of Interactive Computing (IC)
School of Cybersecurity and Privacy
School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE)
All students in the program receive the same degree regardless of interest area, specialization, research focus, or school affiliation. New students are affiliated with the school in which their advisor resides. No school imposes special requirements compared to another.
Admissions decisions are made by the home school. The home school communicates both acceptances and rejections to prospective students.
Support for incoming students (TA/RA guarantees and/or fellowships) is determined by the home schools.
Recruiting visits are organized in the Spring by the home schools along with their other degree programs.
There is a new student orientation for all new CS PhD students the week before classes start in August. It consists of:
Short presentation by the program director on degree requirements
Open discussion
Various activities that vary by home unit
