Preliminary Project Ideas

Please read the document What is Research (https://canvas.cmu.edu/courses/34185/pages/what-is-research)? before you complete this assignment.

What are the intellectual questions on your mind? What kinds of work are you interested in making before you graduate? What kind of objects would you like to bring into the world? What kinds of methods or processes are intriguing you?

List 3 ideas that you're generally considering. You are NOT committing to these at this time -- just getting some thoughts together.

Depending on where you're at in this process, you might just be working with topics (e.g. "I'd like to explore educational games") or you might have objects in mind ("I'd like to make a socially-conscious video game") or events ("I'd like to make an interactive exhibition/experience involving VR/AR") or even other things!

What are the intellectual questions on your mind?

What are ways to speed up the training of the radiance field of a scene to enable live streaming for arbitrary view angles of the scene?

What kinds of work are you interested in making before you graduate?

Towards real-time training of the radiance field.

What kinds of methods or processes are intriguing you?

My current thoughts are: importance sampling of rays, octree structure with levels of mipmap, regularization from depth sensors, and distributed training. Technical details and justification behind these 4 ideas are intentionally left out for conciseness.
