# Roof-space visual review

The eight actual `reference_lodge_ref-1.png` through `reference_lodge_ref-8.png` images were opened
as aesthetic outcomes. Their layered massing, inhabited-looking roofs, warm recessed openings,
sheltered entrances and detailed terraces informed this review. No reference program was run or
copied, and no supplied snapshot was edited.

These are actual MCIO/MCRender block renders, not generated illustrations. Each final specimen has
front, rear and side views plus ground interior, roof interior and vertical circulation cuts. All
30 views were inspected. Geometry-only cuts can omit furniture above the cut plane, slice timbers
and alter apparent light; complete paired artifacts, not cuts, supply validation and identity evidence.
Camera settings, cut planes, sources and semantic digests are in [render-manifest.json](render-manifest.json).

The final canopy/window correction changed roof-home seed 2. Its six images were rerendered and
inspected. The other four final pairs have identical semantic digests to the corresponding inspected
release pairs, so their 24 images are reused explicitly. No image editing conceals geometry.

## Observations and resulting shared rules

**Roof-home 0** has a long shared library loft over two adjoining rooms and a two-bay veranda. The
entrance remains aligned with the garden walk while the sheltered front broadens. The loft cut shows
furniture and hanging lights under the collar timbers, with an actual landing rather than an empty
roof cavity. Intermediate posts improve the long front's structure. The long roof is still repetitive,
and substantial open floor remains between stations.

**High house 1** combines a tall inhabited volume and a lower wing. Its vertical section shows the
stacked stair flights reaching the roof level, and the exterior reads as a taller house with subsidiary
mass rather than a scaled version of the long home. Smaller chimney caps reduce the former bulky
silhouette. Heavy storey bands and regular windows remain conspicuous compared with the references'
more varied openings and roof transitions.

**Held-out veranda 7** tests a three-bay frontage, rear kitchen and upper room in a composition written
after the primitives. The rail gap, approach and sheltered door agree; intermediate supports keep the
wide veranda coherent. The cutaways show connected ground rooms and separately accessible roof runs.
This is an independent frozen-water adaptation fixture, without the garden/public-shore network of a
complete settlement. Its exposed terrain boundary and simple surroundings are not landscape claims.

**Wet pairing 3-7** places the same locked design on mixed wet/dry terrain. Supports and the approach
respond locally while the principal room/roof arrangement stays intact. The entrance reaches its
nearby landing and the stairs remain clear. Water occupies part of the surrounding patch; this is not
a fully submerged-site or complete harbor demonstration. Simple ground treatment looks unfinished
as a scenic composition because landscaping is intentionally absent from this contact fixture.

**Roof-home 2** combines long lower and taller upper roof volumes. The first front view exposed a
blank lower gable where the porch canopy conflicted with a projecting window sill. The shared gable
rule now selects flush glazing when the actual face is clear. The final front view shows that window,
and rear/side views retain coherent window boxes and a smaller chimney cap. The loft cuts show beds,
guarded openings and hanging lights; the section exposes the aligned stair stack. Ground rooms still
have generous empty areas, and the parallel roof ridges remain visually more regular than the lodge
references.

Earlier development views and negative geometry checks also prompted reusable corrections: prepare
roof platforms before enclosure, build taller gables before neighboring low finials, suppress trim
projection on flush boundaries, fit dormers outside protected stair space, and build ceiling timbers
only once their support exists. These are geometric/lifecycle defects, not reasons to relax headroom,
enclosure or authority. The actual-block tests retain broken versions of the relevant guarantees.

The renderer does not simulate Minecraft lighting or movement. Lantern placement, support, room
reachability, headroom, paired objects and inventory contents are checked separately on complete
scenes and after reload. Cut timbers and omitted upper furnishings must not be mistaken for damage
in the original artifact; actual guard/ceiling/collar states have explicit tests.

## Remaining gap

The results are more useful inside and more coherent at broad entrances, but do not yet match the
references' richness. Repeated bay dimensions, mostly gabled roofs, regular timber bands, simple
furniture layouts and relatively flat gardens remain evident across seeds. Irregular terraces,
more varied roof junctions, richer interior groupings and denser landscape composition would improve
them further. No isolated showcase or render is presented as proof of general aesthetic quality.
